Pssssst...

... over here. Come and see yourself. I did it again! I posted something truly remarkable regarding baseball statistics over there at Mikes Baseball Rants.

Yup! I´m so cool. Anytime soon, I´m going to strike it rich, baby! Yes, yes, yes.

Do you want to know what it was all about?

I decided to rank the teams of the two professional leagues. So I took their rankings in some offensive and pitching statistical categories, weighed them with the correlation that particular statistics has to winning percentages (as was before researched by good ol´ Mike himself) and added those together for a final ranking in offensive or pitching categories. This was then put together to get an overall ranking. And then I stopped. Since I basically decided which statistics to rank and which not, it was no real scientific work anyway.

It proved though, what we all knew: The Indians have reversed from last year. They now have an outstanding offense, but they couldn´t keep their pitching together. And it proved something else, which we should make sure to let Mike know when the Phillies fire their manager Larry Bowa and replace him with Mike himself:

Their offense, standing on the shoulders of a giant formerly employed by the Indians, is great. Yet their pitching is lousy.
